The museum was opened in 2006 in a renovated building of the former mills located opposite the entrance to the Buchlovice château. On the ground floor, there is an exhibition covering the fourteen villages of the Buchlov microregion and exhibitions of dolls in the local folk costumes, as well as historical telephones. An exhibition in the attic illustrates the history, ethnography and life of Buchlovice. There is also an overview of the activities of various community associations, local heritage sites and folk traditions, including traditional costumes. There is also a symbolic room dedicated to the graphic artist P. Arnošt Hrabal. In another part of the attic, the Gallery in the Attic was opened in 2010; it features regular exhibitions from Buchlovice and the nearby villages. The museum also includes a tourist information centre.
